Butterfly Gala ~ One Sheet Wonder Card Ideas

Butterflies make the perfect little embellishments for cards. Which is why I was immediately drawn to the new Butterfly Gala bundle from Stampin’ Up! The stamp set has some beautiful butterfly images plus there is a coordinating punch. This makes it so easy to create some quick and simple cards like these!

Butterfly Gala Card Ideas

These butterfly card ideas also feature the new Gingham Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. This 6 x 6 inch paper pack contains 5 different colors of patterned paper:  Balmy Blue, Grapefruit Grove, Daffodil Delight, Lemon-Lime Twist and Highland Heather.

To create these cards, start with a a white card base. Cut a 2 x 5 inch piece from each of the 5 different colors of Gingham DSP. Adhere the DSP to the left side of the white card base. Stamp a little sentiment on the bottom using black ink. Stamp a set of butterflies on a piece of colored cardstock that coordinates with the color of the Gingham DSP. Cut out the butterflies and adhere them to the card with a few dimensionals. For the finishing touch, you can also use a few of the Gingham sequins.

One Sheet Wonder Template

Now as I was creating these quick and simple little cards, I realized that I had the beginning of a One Sheet Wonder! Are you familiar with a One Sheet Wonder? Basically it’s a template for cutting up an entire sheet of patterned paper without having any left over scraps!

So each sheet of the Gingham DSP is 6 x 6 inches. The template above shows you how to cut up the entire 6 x 6 inch piece. You will end up with three (3) pieces of patterned paper measuring 2 x 5 inches and two (2) pieces at 1 x 3 inches.  You can use the 2 x 5 inch pieces to create 3 cards like the ones featured above.

One Sheet Wonder Card Ideas

So now you are wondering, what about the 1 x 3 inch pieces? Well if you cut up 5 different colors of the Gingham DSP, you can use 5 of the 1 x 3 inches pieces to create these cards.

So let’s do the math! 5 sheets of the Gingham DSP, cut with the template noted above, will give you a total of 17 pretty little butterfly cards! 15 cards created with the 2 x 5 inch pieces and these 2 cards created with the 1 x 3 inch pieces. Pretty cool, hey? And they are so fun and simple to make!
