Today I have some adorable gatefold card ideas to share with you. These cards feature a new stamp set, called Hey Love, from the 2019 Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog. The images in this set are super cute and fun to create with. This is also the set that is featured in this month’s class! Learn more about the January 2019 class HERE.
Gatefold Card Ideas
Gatefold cards are pretty easy fun fold cards to create. The card basically has two front flaps that open and close just like a gate. Well it’s actually it reminds me more of an old saloon style door but it’s close enough.
Now you can use a gatefold to create cards for any occasion. I just happen to be featuring some Valentine’s Day cards today because I absolutely adore this stamp set. You can find a variety of different gatefold card ideas and other fun fold cards on my YouTube channel so be sure to pop on over there to take a peek.
Notice how the cards lay flat and stay closed. Yes, I have a simple little tip to share with you that will help you keep those gatefold cards closed!
How to Keep Your Gatefold Cards Closed
While I love the look of gatefold cards, they do not stay closed without a little help. I typically use ribbon or create a belly band that wraps around the card to keep it closed. However, in this week’s video, I have a simple little card making tip that will help you keep those gate fold cards closed without the use of ribbon or a belly band!

What adorable cards these are! As I was watching you video you showed how you used this technique on a Tropical Chic gatefold card. Do you have a page that has information on this one, too? Thanks again for the great cards and technique.
Hi Linda, thanks so much! The tropical chic card was created the same way as the Valentine cards, the only difference is that I used products from that particular suite to decorate it. I don’t have it featured on the blog but I will definitely consider doing that. I appreciate your feedback.
These are adorable cards. Love the idea for the band less gate fold card.
Thanks so much! 🙂
I think this card is so cute for most occassions. I have made gate fold cards but had to use ribbon or a belly band. Thank you so much for this great hint. Always look forward to your emails
Thanks so much Christine. Happy to hear that you enjoy the cards and found the tip helpful! I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. 🙂
Adorable card! Thanks for the gate fold tip!
