Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it! So today I wanted to share a fun little 3D heart pop up card idea with you. This card idea is a spin off of the 3D pop up butterfly card that I shared with you last week. This pop up card idea can be used to create cards for just about any occasion.
3D Heart Pop Up Card Tutorial
There are three sections to this 3D Heart Pop Up Card. The first section I will talk about is the front of the card. You can decorate the front of the card any way you like.
For this card, I am using a variety of products from the All My Love Suite in the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog. Start by cutting a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of Lovely Lipstick cardstock, score the 8-1/2 inch side at 4-1/4 inches to create the base of the card. Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of Soft Sea Foam and a 5 x 3-3/4 inch piece of one of the pretty paper patterns from the All My Love Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. Adhere all of these pieces together and then adhere them to the card front.
You can also add a bit of contrast to the front of the card by using the pattern that is on the reverse side of the DSP. For this card, I can a 1-1/2 x 3-3/4 inch piece of the polka dot patterned paper and adhered it to the bottom of the flowery DSP. Then I simply embellished the card with a few die cut hearts.
Card Within A Card
The second section of this 3D Heart Pop Up Card is the inside section which I fondly call a “Card Within a Card.”
To create this section, start by cutting a 5 x 8 inch piece of white cardstock. Score the 8 inch side at 4 inches to create a card. Decorate the front of the card with a bit of DSP and a little heart with a sentiment. For this card, I cut a 4-3/4 x 3-3/4 inch piece of one of the patterned papers from the All My Love DSP paper pack and adhered it to the front of the white cardstock. Cut a 1 x 3-3/4 inch piece of the flowery pattern and adhere it across the center of the card as shown. I recommend using the same patterns of paper through the card to tie it altogether. For the finishing touch, embellish it with a sentiment stamped on a white heart.
Pop Up Card Section
This final section is the 3D Heart Pop Up part of the card. The pop up section is part of the “card within a card.” To create this section, simply cut a 1 x 8-1/2 inch piece of the red colored patterned paper. Score the paper at 2-1/8, 4-1/4 and 6-3/8 inches. It’s a simply accordion fold for the center of the card.
Adhere the ends of the accordion fold to the white cardstock, as shown, to create the pop up card. Adhere a heart to each of the 4 sections of the patterned paper. For the finishing touch, stamp a sentiment in the upper right hand corner.
Now this card can be used for Valentine’s Day or it can be used to celebrate your anniversary. The sentiments are from the new Meant To Be stamp set from Stampin’ Up! and they are perfect for creating card for that special someone in your life.
I hope you enjoyed this love themed version of the pop up card.
Have a creative week!
Lynn
