It’s never too early to start making valentines! This valentine card was created with a brand new stamp set called Hey Love. The set is featured in the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog which just launched yesterday and there are some absolutely adorable images in this set!
Valentine Card – Hey Love
The Hey Love stamp set, from Stampin’ Up!, is perfect for creating little Valentines for the kiddos to take to school or even love themed cards for the big kids! You can also use the images in the set to make birthday cards or other fun little love themed projects.
To create this Valentine card, start with a piece of white cardstock for the base of your card. Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock. Randomly stamp the “hey valentine” across the top and bottom of the cardstock using the same color ink as the cardstock. In doing so, it creates a nice subtle background for the card.
The middle section of the Valentine card was created with a new embossing folder called Dot To Dot. The texture on this folder reminded me of alligator skin which I thought it would be perfect on this card! Cut a 2-3/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock and emboss it with the Dot To Dot embossing folder.
To create the focal point on the Valentine card, simply stamp the little alligator on a piece of white cardstock using black ink and color him in with a green marker such as the Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends. You can use layering squares, circles or any other shapes you have on hand to create the focal point. For the finishing touch, embellish the card with a few little hearts.
Valentine Card Class
I enjoyed this stamp set so much that I decided to feature it as my class of the month for January! The class includes a tutorial to create 3 Valentine card ideas and 3 coordinating treat cups. Plus there are lots and lots of freebies in this month’s class!
