Christmas Gift Tags – Quick DIY

Just putting the finishing touches on my gifts tonight so I thought I would share some quick Christmas gift tags with you. Tags are probably one of the easiest DIY projects to make at the last minute. You can really make some adorable tags with very little supplies. Let me give you a few ideas to get you started.

Create Christmas Gift Tags with Scraps

These little gift tags were created with some of my favorite Christmas paper and a few scraps that I had leftover from making Christmas cards.

Christmas Gift Tags

You can create Christmas gift tags in any size. For these particular tags, I used 2 x 4 inch pieces of patterned paper or cardstock. I typically use a 2 inch wide piece of paper for my tags because it fits perfectly into a tag topper punch that I have. Besides, the 2 x 4 inch size is really the perfect size tag for any gift.

Once you cut your 2 x 4 inch pieces of patterned paper (or cardstock), use a tag topper punch to create the top of your tag. My favorite is the Scalloped Tag Topper punch from Stampin’ Up! If you don’t have a punch, you can make a tag template and then cut out the top by hand or just use the 2 x 4 inch piece as is (with no fancy top). Then just decorate the tag with your favorite embellishments!

Coordinating Christmas Gift Tags

Of course, you can also be more deliberate with your Christmas gift tag design. Instead of using scraps, grab your favorite patterned papers, embellishments and stamp set to create a set of matching tags.

For these tags, I used the beautiful Joyous Noel patterned paper and some copper embellishments. These Christmas gift tags are 2 x 4 inches as well. Each tag is embellished with a little doily and a beautiful copper wire start or snowflake embellishment. The sentiment was stamped on a little scrap piece of white paper and then adhered to the center of the embellishment. For the finishing touch, I added some copper ribbon and trim to the top of each tag. These little tags I created as a gift for someone. Yes, handmade tags make great gifts!

I hope you enjoyed these last minute Christmas gift tag ideas. Grab your favorite Christmas papers and get busy making a few. I bet you can whip up some adorable little tags in no time.

May you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!
