One Sheet Wonder (OSW)
One Sheet Wonder is a term used to describe a method for cutting up an entire sheet of paper without having any left over scraps. It’s one of my favorite ways to cut up my patterned papers to make cards. Except today, I will give you a little template for cutting up your 12 x 12 sheets of patterned paper to make gift card holders.
One Sheet Wonder Template
Here is the template for cutting your 12 x 12 inch patterned paper. I recommend that you start by cutting the paper into 3 inch strips that measure 3 x 12 inches. You should end up with 4 strips that are 3 x 12 inches. Yes, you can make 4 gift card holders with this One Sheet Wonder template!
One Sheet Wonder – Gift Card Holder Instructions
- Start by cutting the 12 x 12 inch piece of patterned paper in half so that you end up with 4 pieces of patterned paper that measure 3 x 12 inches.
- Score the 12 inch side of the patterned paper at 2, 7 and 10-1/2 inches. The last score line you create, the one at 10-1/2 inches, will create the 1-1/2 inch front flap for the top of the gift card holder.
- Fold the patterned paper on all of the score lines.
- The top of the gift card holder is the 2 inch flap. The bottom of the gift card holder is where you have the 1-1/2 inch flap (the accent piece).
- Create the pouch for the gift card holder by adding a bit of tear & tape to each of the sides of the 3-1/2 inch “flap.” Fold the 3-1/2 inch piece up onto the 5 x 3 inch piece of the gift card holder. This will create the pouch for the gift card holder.
- Fold the 1-1/2 inch flap onto the 3-1/2 inch pouch section and adhere it with some tear and tape. This will create an accent piece for the gift card holder.
- Fold the 2 inch flap down and, voila, you have just created the gift card holder!
- Embellish as desired!
