Dried flowers, rustic milk cans and tin tiles are some classic images that remind me of country living. I love the rustic charm and peacefulness of being in the country. The projects I am sharing with you today remind me of the home my parents had in the country. I used some neutral colors to capture an antique or worn look.
The card is simple to create and it involves a little embossing technique that is perfect for creating that old worn look. To create this card, start with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock for the base of your card. Cut a 3/4 x 4 inch piece of vanilla cardstock, stamp a sentiment on it using soft suede ink. Stamp the milk can and flowery spray on a scrap piece of vanilla cardstock using soft suede ink. Cut the images out by hand and lightly sponge some soft suede on them. Set these pieces aside until your complete the embossing.
Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of vanilla cardstock. Open the tin tile embossing folder and, using a sponge brayer, sponge some soft suede ink all over the raised design inside the embossing. You will be adding color only to the top flap of the embossing folder (see pic below). The flap that has the Stampin’ Up! logo on the front.
Once you have finished sponging color across the embossing folder, lay the 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of vanilla cardstock on the flap without the color then close the folder. Run the folder through your embossing machine and the ink will outline the design on the folder. It’s such an easy and fun technique. Then just decorate your card with a bit of vanilla lace trim and all of the pieces you created earlier.
You can also create this gorgeous pumpkin card using the same embossing technique. Instead of stamping a milk can, I cut out 3 ovals using one of the Stitched Shapes framelits and layered them together to create the pumpkin. The top of the pumpkin was created by stamping the other leafy image, from the Country Home stamp set, on a scrap piece of vanilla cardstock using Soft Suede ink. I cut out the image by hand and tucked it behind the pumpkin before adhering it to the card front. Tie a bit of vanilla lace trim around the embossed vanilla cardstock and adhere to your card front. For the finishing touch, add a little sentiment.
