The beauty of nature is once again captured in a brand new stamp set called Serene Garden. The set contains some stunning images which coordinate with a gorgeous garden scene found in the framelit set. One of the new features of some of the framelits is that some don’t actually cut all the way through the paper…instead, they emboss a very detailed design into the cardstock. This super cool feature allows you to add texture to different places on your card without having to emboss the entire piece of cardstock. So awesome!
So let’s talk about this project…for this card I decided to one of the new colors called Highland Heather. One of my favorite purple colors, which has now retired, was Wisteria Wonder. I loved the lavender color and used it quite often with embossed images. Although the new Highland Heather ink is a bit darker than Wisteria Wonder, it looks just as beautiful with embossed images which made me super happy!
To make the card, I cut a 5 x 3-3/4 inch piece of whisper white cardstock and embossed the garden scene in white the upper left hand corner. Once the image was heat set, I sponged a bit of Highland Heather ink all over it (which is called the emboss resist technique). The ink goes in between the embossed image so that it highlights the white embossed details of the image. For the bird, I embossed the image on a piece of Highland Heather cardstock and then cut out the image with the coordinating framelit.
It was a simple yet beautiful card to create! Your friends and family will think you worked on it for hours! 🙂 Give it a try!
