Rooted in Nature

As a nature lover, I was immediately drawn to the beautiful tree images in the new Rooted in Nature stamp set. This set ranks right up there with Lovely as a Tree which was the very first stamp set I ever purchased. I am drawn to stamp sets that feature trees, leaves and anything else that showcases nature’s beauty. Besides the beautiful images in the stamp set, there are some fun new dies that you can use to cut out the tree and leaf images. And you can also emboss using different dies in the set! The ability to emboss with some of the dies is an awesome new feature in many of the framelit sets! If you are a nature lover, this is one of those must have sets. Let’s take a look at a few different project ideas.

This first project showcases one of the beautiful tree images in the set and the new Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper (DSP). The card showcases all neutral colors such as Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Early Espresso. To create this card, start with a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock for the case of your card. Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of the leaf pattern from the Nature’s Poem DSP pack and adhere it to the card front. Cut a 3 x 4 inch piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and stamp the large tree image using Soft Suede ink. Cut a 3-1/4 x 4 inch piece of Soft Suede cardstock to matte out your stamped image.  Add a bit of linen thread and burlap and adhere to the card front. Then embellish as desired.

This next card features another beautiful tree image on a watercolored background. Cut a 5 x 3-3/4 inch piece of Shimmery White cardstock (or you can use watercolor paper). To create the watercolor wash simply use a an aqua painter to spread Pool Party and Crumb Cake ink on the Shimmery White cardstock. Let dry and stamp these beautiful images! Embellish as desired.

The last card I have to share with you today features the NEW embossing dies. Notice the embossed leaf images in the background of the card?  These were created with the new dies. Simply lay them on the cardstock and run it through your embossing machine like you would any other die. The only different is that the dies don’t cut, they emboss. It adds fun texture to your card. Isn’t it awesome?

To make this card, start with a piece of Soft Suede cardstock for the base. Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and randomly stamp the leaf images using Soft Suede and Crumb Cake ink. Stamp off the images on a scrap piece of paper and then, without re-inking, stamp them on the card to lighten up the ink. Once you have the images stamped, use the leaf die to emboss and add a little texture to the card. For the sentiment, I used one of the beautiful new Stitched Label Framelits. Although these framelits are not part of the Rooted in Nature bundle, they are simply gorgeous accents to use with your sentiments.
