Wedding Wishes

Wedding and anniversary card are such fun cards to make. I love being able to use of a variety of different textures and embellishments to capture the elegance of the moment on my cards.  For the most part, I would recommend using basic colors like black, white or gray to create the base of the card. Of course it’s always fun to coordinate the colors of your card with the colors in the wedding too! So if you know what the wedding colors are, incorporate those colors into your card. Also consider using some of your favorite embossing folders to add texture to the card. The use of texture is such an elegant feature on any card but especially wedding cards where you are typically using white cardstock.

For these particular cards, I chose to use some Smoky Slate and Whisper White cardstock. My cardstock choices were really based upon the colors in the embellishments that I wanted to use. The Sweet Soiree Embellishment kit has so many beautiful flowery images that are perfect for giving my wedding or anniversary cards a little pop of color.

To create this card, simply start with a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock for the base of the card. The base of the card is a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of cardstock, scored at 4-1/4 inches (fold in half to create your card base). Next, cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of whisper white cardstock. Emboss the cardstock with one of your favorite embossing folders. For this card I used a NEW embossing folder that is coming out in the 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog. The new folder is part of the Share What You Love product suite and is called Lovely Floral.

Cut out a wedding cake image using the framelit from the Sweet Cake Framelit set. Stamp a little “best Wishes” sentiment on the bottom of the wedding cake using Smoky Slate ink. Then, emboss the wedding cake just above the stamped sentiment. You can use the same embossing folder or choose a different one. This card features the flowery texture found on one of the Petal Pair embossing folders.  The Lovely Floral texure on the background of the card along with the flower textures from the Petal Pair embossing folders gave this card such an elegant look. Plus it was super simple!  Don’t you just love simple yet elegant cards?

For the finishing touch, the front of the card is embellished with a flowery spray from the Sweet Soiree Embellishment kit. For the inside of the card, cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock. Add a 1 x 5-1/4 inch piece of patterned paper then stamp and embellish. So beautiful! I hope you enjoyed this project.
