Every year Father’s Day seems to sneak up on me! You too? Well this year I decided to start working on Father’s Day cards a little early. My inspiration came from the awesome products and card ideas featured in the Truly Tailored suite. I was so inspired by the patterned papers and colors in this suite that it led to the creation of a variety of different masculine themed cards that can be used for any occasion!
The combination of the rich colors and fun patterns just has “Dad” written all over it. I was especially drawn to the fun little bow ties! Now just to be clear, my Dad never wore a bow tie. Come to think of it, I don’t know anyone that ever wore a bow tie! Maybe that’s why I’m drawn to the design. Anyway, the first card I want to share does remind me of my Dad…it’s the pattern paper that reminds me of the good ole’ days.
Now there are a lot of different ways that you can create the look of a shirt with your card front. This particular card design is one of my favorites because it’s quick and simple yet it still has that WOW factor.
Start with a piece of crumb cake cardstock cut to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches. Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 4-1/4 inches to create your card base. Now place the card front in your paper trimmer, on an angle, and, using the score tool, I want you to score a diagonal line across the upper right hand corner of the card. You don’t have to be too particular, just “eye ball” the place you would like to create the fold for the collar of the shirt.
Add a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of vanilla cardstock on the inside of the card.
Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of your favorite designer paper and adhere it to the front of the card (over the top of the diagonal score line. Then simply fold the diagonal corner back onto the patterned paper and adhere it with a few dimensionals. Be sure to embellish the shirt with a few buttons.

It feels good to have some masculine themed cards ready for Father’s Day and for some upcoming birthday celebrations! The two cards pictured together will be featured in my newsletter this week….a little sneak peek of my newsletter content.
