Have you played with the Brusho Coloring Crystals yet? They are super fun and a great way to add a splash of color on any embossed image or to create a colorful background. Brusho is a fun watercoloring technique that involves using color crystals and water. Simply sprinkle on the color crystals, add water and watch the magic happen! The water grabs the color crystals and spreads the color quickly and effortlessly. It’s so cool to watch! It reminds me of those coloring books I had when I was kid. You know, the ones that you used a paint brush and water. Once the water touched the pictures in the coloring book it magically colored in the image. The brusho is very similar. You can sprinkle brusho on an embossed image and then spritz it with water (which is what I did for this card). Or you can use an aqua painter to add water to certain parts of an image, then just sprinkle on the brusho and the color will spread only where there is water!
You can continue to add Brusho crystals and spritz it with water until you achieve the desired look. Then simply let it dry. I found that you can blot the excess water from the project to assist in the drying process. Don’t blot too much or you will lighten the color. It does dry pretty quickly.
The butterfly image, from the Beautiful Day stamp set, is perfect for the Brusho coloring technique. Start with a piece of watercolor paper. I highly recommend watercolor paper because it will withstand the use of the water with this technique. Emboss the butterfly image on the watercolor paper using white embossing powder. To emboss, stamp the image in versa mark, sprinkle it with white embossing powder, tap off the excess and then heat to set. Once you have an embossed image, sprinkle the brusho color all over the image. I mixed the yellow and blue brusho to create this card. Once I added the powder, I spritz it with water. The more water you spritz, the more the color will spread across the card. Then simply let it dry and embellish it as desired!
