Are you inspired by color? I love working with different color combinations. I am always excited to see the fun color combos that Stampin’ Up! comes out with each time they introduce new patterned papers. This is a great source of inspiration for me. I helps me think outside the box and try some very non-traditional color combinations. Since I am currently working on a few different Valentine’s Day projects, I decided to mix it up a bit and try something different. These love themed cards do not have any of the traditional colors used for Valentine’s Day but they sure turned out fabulous!
So now I bet you are wondering what colors I used, right? Well, I decided to use Pear Pizzazz, Rich Razzelberry, Calypso Coral and a bit of Daffodil Delight. One of the things I like to do is use subtle colors in the background of my projects and then add a pop of color on the card. Something bold. Something that will catch your attention. You will notice the pop of color comes from the solid heart cut from a piece of Rich Razzelberry cardstock. It seems to pull out or accent the Rich Razzelberry colors in the pretty flower heart.
Now for those of you that think coloring takes too long…think again! I learned how amazing the new Stampin’ Blends are when I created these card. It was so easy and effortless to add color to the fine details of these hearts. The Stampin’ Blends are alcohol based markers so you can use them to blend too. But if you just want to color, then are fabulous. You don’t even need special ink! I used my Pear Pizzazz ink to stamp the images and then just colored them in with the other markers. The colors didn’t bleed together and the markers helped to bring out the details in the stamped image.
So the design of the card is pretty simple. Really…it is! Start with a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock for the base of your card. I embossed a fun little design across the center of the card using one of the Petal Pair embossing folders. The heart are stamped from images in the Heart Happiness stamp set and then just layered together to create a fun look! You can embellish the card with as much or as little as you want. Get creative with it!
I hope you are inspired to try some different color combinations! Play around with the different colors that you have on hand and create something unique today!
