Handmade Gifts

This year I decided to make many of my Christmas gifts. Often times people tell me that they could “frame” my cards and hang them on their wall. So I decided to take that advice and create some fun little home decor projects to give as gifts. I have lots and lots of old frames so this was a great way to put them to good use! If you don’t have any frames, you can pick them up at any local retailer.

This first project came to me when when I was playing around with the Sheltering Tree stamp set.  I thought it would be fun to combine that stamp set with the little leaf thinlit in the Seasonal Layers die set to create a Family Tree. I envisioned it a bit differently but I liked how it turned out. Wondering how I got the names on the leaves? Well, I simply printed them off my computer on some old olive cardstock, then cut them out with the leaf image in the Seasonal Layers die set.

Of course I had to make some fun little Christmas themed projects too. So this one showcases the Music Sheet Designer Paper and the beautiful images in the Good Tidings stamp set. Simply measure your papers to cover the size of the frame. So, if you have a 4 x 6 inch frame, cut your background paper to that size and adhere it right to the cardboard backing that comes with the frame. Then, simply decorate it like you would a card! Easy peasy!

This was probably the quickest project to put together. Choose your favorite patterned paper for the background; I used the plaid pattern from the Christmas Around the World Designer Series Paper Pack. Cut a 1 inch strip of red cardstock for the center of the frame. Adhere to a 1-1/4 inch wide piece of gold glimmer paper. Cut these pieces to match the length of the frame, then adhere them across the center. Cut out the word J-O-Y using the large letter framelits and adhere to the center of the 1 inch strip (use a few glue dots). Then embellish! Enjoy!
