Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stocking were hung by the chimney with care… And aren’t they adorable? I can’t believe Christmas is less than a week away! How exciting!
These cards were super fun to make! All of the stocking and embellishments I added to this card came from the die set that coordinating with the Hang Your Stocking stamp set. However, I also used the fun little boxwood wreaths. Simply open them up to create garland (instead of a wreath) and adhere them to your card with glue dots. But before you do all of that, you need to create the embossed background for your card. The embossing paste works perfect with this stamp set, in fact, I had envisioned this card as soon as I saw the new embossing paste and the brick decorative mask.
So the first thing you need to do is gather your supplies. You will need a jar of embossing paste, some decorative masks (stencils) and something to spread the paste with like the palette knives. Lay the mask on a piece of cardstock. For this particular project, I used a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of Crumb Cake cardstock. Grab some of the embossing paste from the jar using the palette knife. Spread the paste across the template so that it fills in the pattern. Now you don’t have to fill in every inch of the template with paste. I actually just spread the paste across the template on an angle leaving a few open spots on the cardstock.
Once you spread a thin layer of embossing paste across the cardstock and you have a design that you are happy with, remove the template and let the embossing paste dry. It dries pretty quickly so while you are waiting for your project to dry, go rinse off the template and the palette knife. It cleans up nicely with warm soapy water. Oh, and cover the paste too! Now you might have noticed that the embossing paste on my card is dark brown, not white. Yes, you guessed it! You can make the embossing paste whatever color you want! Simply scoop out some paste, put it on a silicon mat, and add a few drops of ink to it. Mix the ink drops into the paste and continue to add a drop here and there until you achieve the color you are looking for. How fun! There are so many great uses for the embossing paste and I’m super exciting about the NEW embossing paste coming out in the 2018 Occasions catalog!
