December is the most wonderful time of the year! Decorating the tree, hanging the stockings, wrapping presents, making Christmas cards, and waiting for the snow to fall 🙂 Ahhhh the holidays in Wisconsin! And Jolly ole St. Nick will be arriving this week! And I have been busy creating a variety of different “Santa” themed projects! My favorite Santa projects are the ones created with just his belt! There are a variety of fun ways to do this. All you need is some red and black cardstock and a bit of silver glimmer paper to create the belt! Once you see how easy it is to create these, you will be adding Santa’s belt to everything! Ho! Ho! Ho!
Start with a piece of black cardstock for the base of your card. Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of Real Red cardstock and adhere it to the front of the black card. I embossed the red cardstock with the Cable Knit embossing folder to add a bit more texture but that is purely an optional step. Next, cut a 1 x 4 inch piece of of black cardstock and adhere it across the center of the red cardstock. Cut a 1-3/8 x 1-3/8 inch square from a piece of silver glimmer paper and a 1 x 1 inch square from a piece of black cardstock. Adhere the two pieces together to create the “belt buckle” then add it to the center of the 1 x 4 inch black strip. That’s it! How simple and adorable is that?
You can also use the same measurements to create a Mrs. Claus card. Simply add a white doily to the top of the card and embellish it with some pearls. For the belt buckle, use circles instead of squares. Easy peasy! Plus, you can create some fun coordinating treat containers. I use the treat tubes to create a coordinating Mr & Mrs Claus gift for my cards! Get creative with it!
Check out the live video session I completed on these projects at https://www.facebook.com/stamptasticdesigns/videos/1866802050014154/
Enjoy!
How creative! One thing I live most is the way you use the doily. You have a knack for the doilies! Mrs. Claus card is darling.
Thank you Jean Marie! 🙂
