Birthday Blooms

One of the things that first attracted me to stampin’ was embossing. I was immediately drawn to the beautiful textures and the simplicity of creating with embossing folders. My very first purchase was an embossing machine! I love adding a variety of different textures to my cards. So when Stampin’ Up! came out with their new embossing paste, I knew that I had to try it!   For this project, I used one of the decorative masks to create a fun backdrop for my card. It is so simple to use and the possibilities are endless!

The embossing paste is white. You probably noticed that the little diamond background is pink in color. Well, you can add little drops of ink to the embossing paste and create all sorts of different colored backgrounds!  Now I didn’t want to change the whole container of paste pink, so I simply place some of the paste on a silicon mat and mixed in the color I wanted. Then I spread the colored paste across the diamond shaped decorative mask until I achieved the look I wanted.  The clean up is quick and easy too!  Just rinse the mask, palette knives and silicon mat under some warm soapy water.  Just a little tip…don’t wait too long to clean your tools as the paste dries pretty quickly!
