Hello Stampin’ Friends! Today’s project showcases the gorgeous So Detailed Thinlit Die set. I love using detailed thinlit dies so I was super excited to see this set in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog. This first thing that came to my mind was to design a wedding invitation. My son is getting married in September 2017 so that’s probably what led me down the path of wedding designs. 🙂 However, this set can be used to create a whole host of projects that can be used for just about any occasion! I was actually playing around with the design of this card a bit so let me show you a simple little trick to quickly and effortlessly change the look of this card.
Now this particular card was designed to be used as a wedding invitation but it can easily be used for an Anniversary or even a Birthday. You can actually stamp the sentiments on the inside of the card as all of this decorative detail is on the front of the card. Yes, this card opens like a normal card…you don’t even have to untie the bow! I love the elegant look of white on white or, in this case, vanilla on vanilla. To make this card, start with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock for the base of the card. Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and set aside.
Using the large scalloped thinlit die, cut out two (2) decorative pieces from a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Adhere one piece to the each side of the 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. The die actually gives you a little “flap” or solid piece of cardstock on the bottom (refer to pic) which allows you to easily fold adhere it to the a piece of cardstock. So I fold and adhered the “flap” around to the back of the 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of Very Vanilla so that only the decorative part of the die was showing on the front. Then cut about a 12-14 inch piece of the 1/4″ Very Vanilla ribbon and wrap it around the middle of the 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of cardstock that has the decorative pieces adhered to it (make sure the piece is long enough for you to to tie a bow in the front). Take each end of the ribbon and thread it through a few openings in the decorative pieces on each side of the card; then tie and bow in the middle. The decorative pieces will overlap slightly. Take the entire 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of Very Vanilla cardstock that you just decorated and adhere it to a Very Vanilla card base. For the finishing touch, add a little Falling In Love Embellishment!
To change up this card design, slide a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of your favorite patterned paper in between the decorative pieces and the Very Vanilla cardstock…and…voila…you have a whole new look! The project below is the exact same card I made above, the only difference is the addition of a piece of Falling In Love Designer Paper on the front. Get creative with it and enjoy!
