We love to create handmade cards for those fun occasions like birthdays, weddings and new babies. However, we do not get the same “happy” feelings when we create sympathy cards. These cards reflect the loss of someone very special to us. When I create a sympathy card, it is usually only at a time when I need one, it’s not usually something that I put together in advance. I spend some time reflecting upon the life of the loved one I lost…what they liked, what they did, what was important to them…then I design the card. However, this particular card was inspired not by the loss of a loved one but by the beautiful images in the Flourishing Phrase bundle. To me, flowers and butterflies represent comfort and peace which is the message I want to send to anyone that is experiencing the loss of a loved one.
To make this card, start with a piece of pool party cardstock for the base of your card. Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of basic black cardstock and adhere it to the front of the card. Cut out the large flourish using a piece of pool party cardstock and adhere to the center of the black cardstock. Glue dots work well for this! Cut a 1-1/2 x 4 inch piece of pool party cardstock and stamp the “With Sympathy” sentiment on it using black in. For the finishing touch, embellish the left side of the 1-1/2 inch strip with a little scalloped circle and bitty butterfly. Embellish with a few pearls.
