Wanna make a “pop” up card without all of the hassle? Well Stampin’ Up! has made it super easy for us to create some fun interactive cards with the new Party Pop Up Thinlit Dies. There are two different dies…one for birthdays and one for celebrating just about any other occasion.
So let me start out by providing you with some ideas for the front of your card and then we can take a peek at how to create the “pop up” for the inside of your card. So for this particular card I used the Party with Cake stamp set that coordinates with the pop up thinlits. I also used the It’s my Party Designer Paper as well as some of the party themed enamel dots. Now to make this card, start with a piece of whisper white card stock for the base of your card. Cut a 1 x 5 1/4 inch piece of black or dark blue card stock (so it coordinates with your patterned paper) and adhere it to the left side of your card front. Cut a 5 1/4 x 2 inch piece of one of the It’s my Party patterns from the designer paper pack; adhere this piece so that it overlaps the 1 inch piece of card stock. Cut a 2 1/2 x 3 3/4 inch piece of whisper white card stock (for stamping on) and a 2 3/4 x 4 inch piece of black or dark blue card stock to serve as a matte. Stamp the “It’s Your Day” sentiment on the white card stock using melon mambo ink; stamp the Let’s Party sentiment using pool party ink. Tie a little bow with some of pool party glitter ribbon and adhere it to the top part of the white card stock as shown. Matte out the stamped images with your black or dark blue card stock and adhere it to your card with some dimensionals. Embellish with some of the It’s my Party enamel dots.
Now…for the inside of the card. Cut a 6 x 4 inch piece of card stock or patterned paper. In this case I used some patterned paper. If you decide to use a piece of card stock you can color the candles and letters with your markers. Run the 6 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper (or card stock) through the big shot using one of the pop up thinlits. Then just fold on the score lines so the “Happy Birthday” pops outward from the rest of the paper. Adhere to the inside of your card. You can also add a little bit of washi tape for color.
The dies are very simple to use. Check out this Stampin’ Up! video and see for yourself! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4HNjpWiOss
