Since Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, I will be sharing a variety of projects with you throughout the course of this week to help you get prepared! They are fun little cards and treats that you can give to that special someone. Or…make them all and give them to all of the special people in your life. So let’s look at today’s project…a very elegant card and coordinating treat box.
Let’s start with the materials you will need for the card. Start with a piece of basic black for the base of your card. Cut a 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of whisper white card stock. Punch out a few hearts in the top of this piece. Cut a 4 x 4 inch piece of the gold embossed vellum (the piece with the hearts on it). Place the vellum in the center of your card and adhere it by running some of the Stack with Love washi tape across the top and bottom of the vellum. This is a great way to adhere vellum since adhesive typically shows through the vellum. Grab some of your favorite red ribbon and tie a little bow around the center of the vellum as shown. Stamp the You & Me image, using real red ink, on a scrap piece of white paper. Punch out the image using the 1 3/4 inch circle punch, then matte out this piece with a black 2 inch circle….secure it with dimensionals in the center of your card, over the top of the ribbon. That’s it! I would add a 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of whisper white cardstock to the inside of the card too (that way you can write a special message to the recipient).
For the treat box, simply tie a bit of your red ribbon around the lid of the box. Add a bit of the Stacked with Love washi tape to the front of the box and trim up the ends. Using a heart punch or framelits, cut out a red heart. The heart needs to be no bigger than 2 inches (since the treat box is 2 x 2). For the arrow, simply use the “What’s up” punch with a piece of black scrap paper. Secure these pieces to the front of the box and fill it with your favorite candy! Enjoy!
