Valentine’s Day is about a month away! Yeah, I can’t’ believe it either! I figure I better get some project ideas out there for you now because it will be here before you know it! This particular project was actually inspired by my 2-year old grandson. We were “crafting” together one day…actually he was just randomly gluing buttons on a piece of paper and having a blast! Our crafting episode inspired me to create this adorable little home decor piece and it was a great way to use up some of the buttons that I had on hand!
To make this project, you will need a 5 x 7 picture frame. Cut a piece of your favorite designer paper that has a black and white pattern on it. For this project, I used one of the patterns from the Back to Black Designer Series Paper (DSP). Cut that piece to 5 x 7. Next, take one of the medium size heart framelits and cut out a black heart. Don’t worry…we will make it red. 🙂 Secure the black heart to the center of your DSP. Stamp some real red hearts around the outside of the black one as shown in the picture. Grab all of the red buttons you can find and randomly arrange them on the black heart. You can also stamp a little “love” sentiment in the center as shown or just fill up the heart with buttons. I ran out of buttons so I also added a few real red candy dots. Once you have a pattern you like, secure the buttons to the black heart using glue dots. For the finishing touch, add a white bow to the bottom of the heart and then put your masterpiece in the frame! Enjoy!
