Letterpress Winter

letterpress winter snowflake thinlitsWell the holiday season is upon us and I have been crafting like mad! We began our Christmas Card Club during the month of September so I thought I would share some wonderful creations with all of you!  This card was inspired by a design in the Stampin’ Up! catalog and it showcases the beautiful Letterpress Winter stamp set and the Snowflake Thinlit.  If you haven’t worked with thinlits yet you will be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to create beautiful fancy fold card designs.

To recreate this card, start with a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch piece of soft sky cardstock. Lay the snowflake thinlit directly ontop of the cardstock and run it through the big shot. The thinlit will cut and score the cardstock for you! How cool is that? Then just simply decorate it!  The letterpress winter stamp set contains several beautiful snowflake images that coordinate with the thinlit designs. For this card, I stamped the large fancy snowflake, using smoky slate ink, onto the coordinating snowflake cut out from the thinlit. Then I simply stamped a few smaller snowflakes on the outside flap of the card using the same color ink as the cardstock…soft sky. Next, I cut out a silver glimmer paper snowflake and “joy” sentiment using the die cuts in the snowflake thinlit pack. I made a 1 inch belly band out of a piece of designer paper to wrap around the card and decorated this with some ribbon and the “joy” sentiment. Make sure that you do not tape the belly band to the card as you want it to easily slide on and off so you can open up the card. For the finishing touch, add a little vintage faceted button or rhinestone to the center of the snowflake. Enjoy!
