Polka Dot Pieces ~ Circle Thinlit

Well it has been awhile since I shared a fun fold card with all of you….so today let’s look at a fast and easy way to create fun fold cards. Stampin’ Up has a wonderful product line available to us called “thinlits.”  These amazing little tools work with your big shot embossing machine to complete all of the fun fold scoring and cutting for you! Yes, I did say it’s all done for YOU! 🙂

To make this card, start with a piece of hello honey cardstock cut to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches. using the circles thinlit, cut out the fun fold design. The circle thinlit will cut and score the cardstock for you.  Just a little tip…to make a regular sized card, don’t lay the thinlit directly on top of the cardstock…instead, lay the circle part of the thinlit on the cardstock and bring the other part of the cardstock up and over the bottom part of the thinlit. You want half of the cardstock under the thinlit and the other half resting on top…anything under the thinlit will get cut and scored and anything on top of the thinlit will not. To get a better idea of how to position your framelit, check out this example http://bit.ly/1nTbrp4. Cut a 1 3/4 x 5 1/4 inch piece of designer paper…in this case I used the new Park Lane DSP. I also cut a 1 x 5 1/4 inch piece of sahara sand cardstock and ran it through the big shot with one of the finishing touches edgelits (to get the fancy edge). Secure these two pieces together on the inside flap of your card as shown. For the finishing touches, I simply decorated up the front of the card and the circle with images from the Polka Dot Pieces stamp set and cut them out with the coordinating punches. Using these new thinlits provides a quick way to make some fun folding cards. Give it a try!
