Here’s a FUN little project that showcases a great technique for you! It’s called a shaker card! See those tiny little stars? They move around when you “shake” the card. It’s a super cute way to add a little bit of pizazz to your projects! Let me tell you how I made this little shaker tag…
I decided to use the new Festival of Trees Bundle for this project…the bundle comes with the stamp set and coordinating tree punch. I started with a 2 x 4 inch piece of real red cardstock. Start out by using your punches…punch out the tree shape as well as the tag top. After punching out the shapes, emboss the tag with the Lucky Stars embossing folder. I lightly sanded the stars to make them pop! Cut a 2 x 3 inch piece from a window sheet and secure it to the back side of the tag to cover the hole left from punching out the tree. Set this piece aside.
Next, take a 2 x 3 inch piece of whisper white cardstock and stamp one of the festival of trees images onto it. Outline the stamped tree image with dimensionals…you want to make sure you go completely around the tree for 2 reasons: (1) The dimensionals will contain the star confetti to the outline of the tree and (2) the dimensionals will provide just enough lift for the stars to move freely under the window sheet piece you made earlier. So…now that you have your tree outlined with dimensionals, sprinkle some star confetti over the tree but stay within the boundaries of the dimensionals. You can make your own star confetti with the new Confetti Stars Punch! Now, peel off the backing to the dimensionals, grab that red tag with the window sheet that you made earlier, and carefully lay it on top of the dimensionals! The window sheet on the tag will allow you to easily line up the tag so the tree image and confetti show through. Then just decorate up the tag and adhere it to your card! Voila! You will have a FUN little “shaker” card. Enjoy!
