Wow! We had an awesome time at our first spring crafter’s escape which ran from Friday, May 16th – Saturday May 17th! We made 30 projects during the event! And we were able to enjoy simply breath taking views of the beautiful Cedar Valley Retreat Center! Here are a few pics from the event!
We started the event at the beautiful Cedar Valley Retreat Center. Over 100 acres of gorgeous scenery.
A few of us stayed overnight at the retreat center. So, on Friday night we had a little shoebox swap. A shoe box swap means that each of us designed a project, then provided all of the materials for everyone to make it. These are the shoe box swaps from Friday evening…
Oh my gosh that was a blast on Friday night! Plus I gave all of the attendees a few little goodies throughout the event! I will share all of the goodies with you tomorrow…there’s just not enough room for all of the pics on this post!
On Saturday we created the bulk of the projects when the rest of the stampers joined us! We started out the day with a stamp-a-stack. We each put together 12 cards…4 of each of 3 different designs! The cards at the top of the pic were designed by Debbie Jorns and the tulips on the bottom were designed by me. We had a chance to play with the new blendabilities markers which were super fun! Here is what we made…
Julie Lulich provided the next project for the group. An adorable little criss cross card box. And Kim Sedlachek provided a few cards for us to put in there! Although I have to say that by the end of this retreat, we had more cards made than we could fit into this adorable little box. 🙂
Did I mention that we stayed in the log cabin? Super cute little place! Check out the pic below! The log cabin sleeps 11 people plus we had plenty of room for crafting! After a morning of projects, we walked from the log cabin to the retreat center for lunch. The retreat center provides all home cooked meals which was wonderful! After lunch, we headed back to the log cabin to finish out the day with more fun projects!
We started out our afternoon with a fun little accordion style card box/file. I guess I am not really sure what it is called but it was a great little gift I received at leadership in January so I decided to share it with the group!
The accordion file folder holds 4 little note cards. The picture on the left shows you the inside of the project. I simply cut off the tops of 4 standard sized envelopes and secured them together with sticky tape to achieve the accordion look.
I decided to make it a watercolor theme. I used the Happy Watercolor stamp set, watercolor note cards with envelopes and designer paper for this project. Super fun! The ladies loved that their initials were on the front of this project! Here is what we put together…
The final projects for the day were created by Michelle Stark. She designed 5 cards using all of the 2012-2014 In Colors…you know…the ones that are retiring at the end of this month! 🙁 We will all miss those colors but we know that there are 5 new fun colors to replace them! Here are Michelle’s creations…
We had such a great time crafting together this weekend! We shared laughs, projects and tons of food! I can’t wait to put together another retreat this fall…although this time we will hold a day retreat. We have lots of ideas about our fall retreat so watch for announcements towards the end of summer! We are going to change up the retreat a bit as we learned so much just putting this one together! Have a wonderful week!
