Beautiful Sunflower

Well today I want to share a beautiful card my daughter put together when she stopped in the other day. I am just amazed at how quickly she can come up with a card design just by looking at a stamp! Apparently my large sunflower stamp caught her eye!  She grabbed a few markers, some paper and got right to work!

She started with the large sunflower and a few markers…more mustard (which is a retired color) and crumb cake.  I gave her a funny look when she grabbed the crumb cake marker but I let her have at it!  She colored each petal with the markers…randomly changing colors as she went along. She stamped the image on a 5 x 3 3/4 inch piece of very vanilla cardstock and sponged the edges with early espresso ink (to match the dark cardstock matte). I have to say…the image turned out beautiful! Next, she grabbed my heat gun and some iridescent ice embossing powder.  Now it’s hard to see in the pic but she randomly stamped some gorgeous grunge images all over the flower and then embossed them with the glittery iridescent ice. This little technique was subtle, yet effective, as the flower shimmers when the light hits it. For the final touch, she added a little trinket tied to some baker’s twine, and embellished the sentiment with a few rhinestones.
