Paper Towel Technique ~ Swallowtail

Today I want to share a simple background technique with all of you!  Every Tuesday I will be sharing either a tip or technique that you can use on any of your paper crafting projects!  This week’s technique focuses on stamping with a paper towel. Take a look at the two different background colors in the pic above. Those two colors were applied using a scrunched up paper towel!

So here’s how you do it…grab two pieces of paper towel and your inks. For this card, I used so saffron and blushing bride. Scrunch up one of the pieces of paper towel and dab it onto the so saffron ink pad. Keeping the paper towel scrunched up, blot the ink in a random fashion all over a piece of white or vanilla cardstock; I used a 5 x 3 3/4 inch piece of very vanilla cardstock. Once you are done blotting the yellow ink, grab the other piece of paper towel, scrunch it up and blot the pink color (blushing bride). The paper towel gives your background a faux like design. When you have achieved the desired background look, ink up the swallowtail stamp with soft suede and stamp the image over the top of the background colors. Then just embellish!  I added a little sentiment and a bit of dazzling details to the butterfly to glitter it up. Super fun and simple technique! Give it a try!
