World Map ~ Leadership Swap

This is the final swap I put together for the 2014 Stampin’ Up! Leadership Conference…and it was a hit!  I am always looking for more masculine card designs, and, apparently so is everyone else!  This card was inspired by one that is featured in the Annual Stampin’ Up! catalog.  It showcases the ink pad dragging technique.

To make this card, start with a piece of early espresso cardstock for the base of the card. Cut a 5 1/4 x 4 inc piece of very vanilla cardstock. I used a variety of different colors for the background:  Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry and Old Olive. To achieve the blotchy background look simply open one of your ink pads and drag it across the very vanilla cardstock. Open another color and repeat the dragging process until you cover the piece of cardstock with color. Take the World Map stamp and ink it up with early espresso…stamp the image over the top of the colors! Super simple!  For the the embellishments…I cut a 1 x 4 inch piece of early espresso co’redination cardstock, tore it and sanded it…added a bit of washi tape and a little birthday sentiment.  I had a lot of fun with this technique…give it a try and let me know what you think!
