I think this is my favorite butterfly card…well for this month anyways. 🙂 I really love the elegance of butterflies. They always provide just the right touch to any card I seem to put together.
For this card, I wanted to use the yellow roses from the gorgeous Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper (DSP). I also wanted to design some type of fancy fold card. So I cut a 5 1/2 x 12 inch piece of whisper white cardstock and scored the 12 inch side at 4 and 8 inches. Using the large scalloped edge framelit, I cut the top and bottom edges of the card base. Next, I cut a 5 1/2 x 3 inch piece of the DSP and secured it to the front of my fancy fold card. Using the large oval punch, I cut a little window in the top of the card and stamped a little “thanks” right through the window and onto the inside flap of the card (see pic below).
Next, I cut a little purple scalloped circle to matte out my oval window. To do this, take a piece of wisteria wonder cardstock and cut out the oval first…then take the scalloped circle punch, line it up over the oval hole you made and punch out your matte….secure it to the outside of the card around your oval window. For the butterflies…simply stamp them using soft suede…sponge a bit of wisteria wonder and so saffron ink onto them. Punch out the butterflies and adhere them to the front of your card. To make them sparkle…simply add a bit of pearls and dazzling details. I am pretty sure the ladies are gonna love this card at our next class!
