Boy I had a really tough time designing this card! Whew! I knew I wanted to make a card with the deer silhoutte but I could not decide what colors to use! Then it hit me…I could make a great card for that special deer hunter in my life! 🙂 Especially since his birthday is today! Happy 23rd Birthday to my son Michael!
So let’s talk about how to make this card! Start with a piece of tangerine tango cardstock for the base of your card. Cut a 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of early espresso cardstock as a matte for your card. I cut a 4 inch piece of the birch paper that came in my Thanksgiving Tablescape kit but you can easily substitute the birch paper with a piece of whisper white cardstock either stamped with the woodgrain stamp set or you can emboss it with the woodgrain embossing folder….then just take an early espresso marker and make a few random, short, straight lines to achieve the look of birch.
Using a piece of whisper white cardstock, I heat embossed the deer silhouette, from the Remembering Christmas stamp set, using early espresso embossing powder. Be sure to stamp the image on the bottom edge of your paper. I wanted to add a little color to the card so I decided to use the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper (DSP) as an accent behind the deer. I cut the image and the DSP out using two different sized deco labels framelits. then just simply add your favorite sentiment! Let me know if any of you try using the woondgrain emobssing folder or stamp set for this project!
