Masking with Squares

This may just be one of my favorite fall themed creations thus far!  I wanted to design something with the birch tree paper that I had left over from the fall tablescape I put together! I just simply love the fall colors on this card: Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip!

To make this card, start out with a piece of very vanilla cardstock for the base of your card. Cut a few different size squares out of scrap pieces of paper that you have lying around…I used different sized square framelits but you can use different sized punches too.  Once you have your square templates cut out, simply sponge the various colors onto the top part of the card… just vary the size of the square you are using and change out the colors each time you sponge a new square.  You can vary the pattern any way you like!  After you have a nice pattern sponged on the card, stamp the maple leave in chocolate chip ink. Add a 1 x 5 1/2 inch piece of your favorite fall themed designer paper to frame out your sponged design…in this case I used the Sweater Weather paper and a bit of the birch tree paper. Then embellish with a bit of crushed curry chevron ribbon tied up in a naturals designer button with a bit of linen thread. Oh…and I stamped the truly grateful sentiment on the bottom using cajun craze ink.  Beautiful fall themed card using the making technique! Give it a try!
