I shared this card with the ladies at my August classes. I received this swap in July at the 2013 Stampin’ Up! convention from Karyn. The card showcases one of my favorite techniques…masking! I simply cut out a rectangular template in the center of a piece of 5 1/4 x 4 inch cardstock. This template serves as the “mask” so that I could sponge a rectangular image on the card. The sponging then becomes the background for the rest of the images that you will be stamping.
To make this card, simply cut out a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch piece of pistachio pudding cardstock…score at 4 1/4 inches and fold…this serves as the base of your card. Next, cut 2 pieces of whisper white cardstock to 5 1/4 x 4 inches…one will serve as your template, the other will be for the card. On one of the pieces of white cardstock, cut a rectangle in the center…cut it approximately 2 x 3 inches. To make the template, you will need a paper cutter that allows you to lift the blade to cut out the center of the cardstock.
Place your template on the second piece of whisper white cardstock and simply sponge some pistachio pudding and crisp cantaloupe into the rectanglular template. Keeping the template in place, stamp the Simply Sketched images in sahara sand ink over the top of the sponged colors. Remove the template and stamp the flower image and sentiment in night of navy. Then color the flower with your crisp cantaloupe marker to make it “pop.”
