Secret Garden ~ Fancy Fold

Today I thought I would share a fancy fold card with all of you!  I have been in awe at the number of different creative ideas people have for folding their cards!  If you haven’t seen some of these ideas, then you need to check out my fancy fold pinterest board

With all of the different types of fancy folds, I thought we could focus on a very simple one today!  This type of fold is called the z-fold…you will notice from the picture below that when the card folds up, it actually accordions into a little z pattern (hence the z-fold name).

The z-fold pattern is very simple to re-create.  You simply start with a piece of cardstock cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2…score the 8 1/2 inch side at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2 (this is what will give you the z fold.  Simply fold the card at those score lines and decorate!  For this particular card I used the the secret garden stamp set and framelits as well as some retired Floral District Designer Paper.  The framelits are awesome because they cut out these little flowers just perfectly (no more cutting them out by hand). I also used the floral framelits to put together the “I’m praying for you” design on the front flap of the card. That particular overlay really accented the front of the card (as seen in the first picture).  For the finishing touch, I added a few embellishments to the card…a bit of ribbon, some bakers twine, and some vintage faceted buttons. The possibilities are endless!
