This past week has just been crazy busy as I prepare to attend the Stampin’ Up! convention! I have been busy making a variety of swaps and I think, at last count, I have made around 200 cards to swap with other demonstrators! This card happens to be one of them!
By the tide stamp set is becoming one of my go to sets lately for designing more masculine cards (although I still love the Open Sea set as well). There are some great colors in the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack which is really what inspired the colors I chose for this card. The apothecary accent, on the left of the card, is cut from a piece of the DSP…it is from there that I chose to use the colors Summer Starfruit, Island Indigo and Crumb Cake. I began by stamping the new “Grid” image on the right side of the card. I took a 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of naturals white cardstock and tore the edge….that way you could see the grid stamping in the background. Next I randomly stamped a variety of images, from the By The Tide set, onto the torn piece of cardstock. To get that worn look…I sponged a bit of crumb cake around the edges of the card.
Could you tell that this card has 5 layers? I love the dimension that layering gives to my projects! I used a variety of shapes for the layers…the apothecary accents framelits and different size circle punches. Just for fun, punch or cut out a few different shapes and then play around with them to come up with different layering designs!
