Apparently I am sticking with the pastel colors for my projects this week! Haha! This card was designed with a few of the retiring colors and designer series paper. The base of the card is bashful blue…which is one of my favorite colors! I just may be partial to this color since I use it on everything “baby” for my little grandson! 🙂
I decided to design a birthday card with these “soft” pastel colors, mainly, to bring out the colors in the Patio Party designer paper. And…yep…you guessed it…the patio party designer paper is also retiring at the end of this month! The card is fairly simple to assemble. Start with a piece of bashful blue cardstock cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″ (score the 11″ side at 5 1/2 and fold)…this serves as your card base. I embossed the front of the card base with the polka dot embossing folder. Next, cut a piece of midnight muse cardstock at 5 1/2 x 2 1/4″ and a piece of patio party designer paper at 5 1/4 x 2….secure the patio party paper to the midnight muse paper.
The sentiment for this card comes from the Perfect Punches stamp set which will also be retiring :( Stamp the sentiment in midnight muse ink and then punch it out with the large oval punch. To add a bit more depth and layers to the card, punch out a scalloped circle out of pink pirouette cardstock and secure the sentiment. I typically use dimensionals, fondly called “pop dots”, on various layers of the card. Dimensionals tend to “pop” the layers off the card and they work great for securing layers to cardstock that has been embossed.
Finally, just add a bit of taffeta ribbon and any other embellishments you would like! Quick and simple card to put together for any occasion!
