Masking Technique – Circles

As I shared yesterday, I have been experimenting with the masking technique. So…I decided to try masking with a few different size circles. The basic concept of masking is to choose an object, in this case a circle, and then sponge color into it.  I developed the “mask” by using some scrap pieces of paper and a few different size circle punches.  I simply punched out the different size circles, set them aside, but used the “holes” left in the scrap piece of paper to do the sponging.

Since I made this card to swap at our monthly meeting yesterday, I used all of the colors that will be retiring. Our swap theme was retiring colors so I had to use some of my favorites colors like baja breeze, river rock and certainly celery.  Once I sponged all of the circles, then I stamped one of the images from the Serene Silhouette stamp set and a sentiment from the Sweet Essentials set.  The designer paper is from the Twitterpated series and, of course, the ribbon is certainly celery taffetaVery simple and elegant technique
