This year I decided to put together a few glass ornaments! These ornaments were inspired by one of my fellow demonstrators, Cristy Butzen. Cristy put together a few of these last holiday season when we had mica flakes still available in the holiday catalog. I thought they were so beautiful but I just didn’t have the time to make any!
I started with some transparency paper which you can pick up from any office supply store. I cut out a 2 1/2 in circle using on the of big shot dies (transparency paper doesn’t cut well with the circle punch). The glass ornaments are 3 inches in diameter so you want to use a transparency circle that is just a bit smaller. I stamped my images on the transparency paper in stazon ink (stazon comes in white and black). The stazon ink is permanent and won’t smudge on the transparency. Once my image was stamped, then I used dazzling details to glitter it up. Next, I poured some mica flakes into each ornament. I punched a small hole into the top of the transparency paper and tied fishing line to it. Then, I simply rolled up the transparency paper with the stamped image and pushed it into the glass ornament and tied the fishing line to the top of the glass ornament which allowed me to keep the image from laying in the bottom of the ornament!
Very simple and they turned out just beautiful! Thanks for the idea Cristy!
Thanks!
Gorgeous! Great directions, easy to follow!
