Patterned Pumpkins

Today I want to share a couple of Fall-themed cards with you that were created with a fun little masking technique. Both cards showcase the Patterned Pumpkin thinlit dies and/or the Pick a Pumpkin stamp set.  The cool thing about this technique is by creating a masked background for one card, I ended up creating a frame for another. Let’s take a look.

I started out by creating the hardwood frame. Cut a 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of crumb cake cardstock. Using one of the square framelits, cut out the center of this piece. Lay the crumb cake cardstock, with the center cut out, on a very vanilla cardstock front. Ink up the hardwood stamp with crumb cake ink and stamp it on the crumb cake cardstock. The crumb cake cardstock serves as a mask so that you end up with a perfect little square, containing the hardwood image, on the front of your very vanilla card (as shown above). Then just embellish the card with some of the fun die cut images from the Patterned Pumpkin stamp set.

Now don’t throw away that hardwood mask you used to create the other card!  Simply cut it down and create another fun card!  In this case, I cut down the 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of crumb cake cardstock (with the hardwood image stamped on it). Cut the cardstock down to 4 x 4-1/2 inches so that it serves as a frame for your stamped images and embellishments. Place a piece of very vanilla cardstock behind the square opening in the crumb cake cardstock and adhere to the card front as shown above. I used Early Espresso cardstock and tucked a little piece of a doily under the frame before I adhered it to the card front. Then stamp a little sentiment on the vanilla cardstock and embellish as desired!

Wickedly Sweet Fall Themed Cards

2015 September PP Wickedly Sweet TreatsThere were so many fun images in the September Paper Pumpkin stamp set that I just had to spend a little time creating with them! Now the other day I shared a Halloween themed card and one of the projects from the kit but today I want to share some fall-themed cards I created with the stamps and my own supplies. Enjoy!

2015 September PP Wickedly Sweet Treats Alternate Project 2
Crushed Curry for the base of your card. Cut a 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of soft suede. Cut a 1 1/2 x 5 1/4 inch piece of whisper white and stamp the leaf and acorn images across it; secure this piece to your soft suede cardstock. Stamp the little squiggly design right under the white cardstock using soft suede ink. Add a banner with the sentiment.
2015 September PP Wickedly Sweet Treats Alternate Project 3
White card base. Cut a 2 x 5 1/2 inch piece of patterned paper and a 2 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch soft suede matte; adhere these 2 pieces together and punch out 3 circles (1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inch punch would be fine). Use this piece as a guide to stamp your pumpkins and the green tops directly on the white card base. I used the squiggly image to stamp the pumpkins and the fun design on the top of the card. Add a sentiment.
2015 September PP Wickedly Sweet Treats Alternate Project 1
Soft suede card base. Cut a 5 1/4 x 4 inch cajun craze matte. Cut a 5 x 3 3/4 inch whisper white piece to do your stamping on. Punch out a 2 1/2 inch circle out of scraps, lay it in the center of the white cardstock and trace around it with a pencil. Use that pencil mark to stamp all of the leaf and acorn images into a wreath shape. Fun, hey?
