Orchids are one of my favorite flowers! So when I saw that it was a stamp set in the new Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog, I was super excited! A few weeks ago I shared a beautiful card showcasing this set on some Wood Texture Designer Paper. Well today I want to share another fun card idea with this set. This time I went for a softer look. This card also showcases a fun embossing folder technique! I hope you enjoy it!
Start with a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of whisper white cardstock. I cut out a larger sized oval from the center (using oval framelits)…this is an optional step. The project will be beautiful even if you don’t cut out an oval in the center.Next, grab one of your favorite embossing folders….my choice was the new Garden Trellis folder. Take the Powder Pink stamping pad, open up your embossing folder, and ink up the top part of the folder. You want to ink up the “smoother” part of the embossing folder (typically the top part) so that when you put your paper in the folder it “pushes” the ink in the background of the embossed images. So you will notice the trellis design stays white but there is pink ink in the background. I just open up my ink pad and tap it right onto the embossing folder as shown.
Once you have finished inking up the embossing folder, lay your 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of paper on the bottom part of the folder and close it. Run it through your embossing machine. Take the embossing folder to your sink and rinse off the ink with cool water. It’s a super simple technique that really has a WOW factor to it!
Then just embellish your project! For this particular project I used the Climbing Orchid Bundle (Stamp set and Framelit Die Cuts). The framelits will cut out all of the Orchids and different layers for the Orchids. I love that you can add as many layers as you like to the Orchids to give them depth and dimension. Fun set! I hope you enjoyed today’s project! Have a great day!
