Oh What Fun ~ Project Ideas

Today, I will show you how to create some quick and simple Christmas cards with the Oh What Fun tag kit. This adorable kit contains all of the supplies you need to create 30 Christmas tags.  To get started, I recommend that you assemble all of your tags first. There are 10 different tag designs so you will be using one tag from each of the 10 different designs to create your cards. In the end, you will have 10 cards with 2 coordinating gift tags.Oh what fun tag cardsI used all of the materials that came in the tag kit but I also had to add a few other supplies, like cardstock, so that I could make some of the tags into cards.  As you can see, there are traditional Christmas colors such as the real red and garden green but there is also a non-traditional color in this kit called Mint Macaron. Be sure to have these colors of cardstock and ink on hand so that you can create coordinating cards and tags. So let’s take a closer look at the first 5 projects:

oh what fun tags and cards design 8
Start with a piece of garden green cardstock for the base of your card. Stamp some of the holly berry images on the front of the cardstock using garden green ink. Add a paper doily to the top of the card and secure one of your pre-made tags to the front using dimensionals.
oh what fun tags and cards design 10
Start with a piece of whisper white cardstock for the base of your card. Tie a bit of silver cording trim around the mint macaron lace trim on each of the tags. Adhere the Oh What Fun tag to the front of your card using dimensionals. Note: Save all of the Jingle Bells for embellishing your tags.
oh what fun tags and cards design 9
Start with a piece of whisper white cardstock for the base of your card. Emboss it with the Softly Falling Textured embossing folder. Cut a 2 1/2 x 4 inch piece of mint macaron cardstock to matte out one of your tags for the card; adhere the tag to this piece with a snail runner or other adhesive. Adhere the matted piece to the center of your card with dimensionals.
oh what fun tags and cards design 7
Start with a piece of real red cardstock for the base of your card. Secure a paper doliy to the center of the card front using a bit of snail or other adhesive. Secure one of your tags to the doily using dimensionals.

Cottage Greetings

Today I want to talk about “kit” projects. Of course I love to create projects from scratch; I enjoy designing, picking out colors, playing around with layouts, cutting papers, etc. But I also love going to classes and stamp parties where all of that is already done for me! That’s what “kit” projects have to offer. Everything is pre-cut and ready to go for you to assemble. No searching for ideas on pinterest or spending a couple of hours designing, everything you need to create some fun projects is right there for you in the kit!  And there are some adorable kits out there, like this one called Cottage Greetings.cottage greetingsThis particular kit caught my eye right away when I saw it in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog. I loved the colors, papers and layout…and the price!  The kit is $16.00 and comes with all of the materials you need to create 15 beautiful cards with coordinating envelopes!  That’s a little over $1 per card!  Where are you going to pick up a greeting card this beautiful for $1? 🙂  Now the kit doesn’t come with the stamp set or ink, you have to purchase that separately.  There is a Cottage Greetings stamp set in the new catalog but you can also use any stamp set you have on hand because the only thing you need to stamp on these cards is a greeting!  I highly recommend this kit!  The projects are quick, simple and beautiful. You will absolutely love it! Enjoy!

Perpetual Birthday Cards

perpetual birthday calendar card2Did you enjoy the perpetual birthday calendar post the other day? I hope so because today I want to share a few more fun little things you can do with the stamp set that coordinates with the kit. I actually held a little calendar class last month. Participants made the adorable little calendar as well as some fun birthday cards.

perpetual birthday calendar card1You need to have some birthday cards to send out to those people on your calendar, right? Right! Well we put together some very simple birthday cards using some of the fun images in the Perpetual Birthday Calendar photopolymer stamp set. Grab a few sheets of whisper white cardstock as we will be using this for the base of the cards. You will also need a few different colors of ink. For the butterfly card, I chose the following colors: Coastal Cabana, Smoky Slate, So Saffron, and Crisp Cantaloupe. For the flower card, I used: Pink Pirouette, Smoky Slate and So Saffron. To make the cards, ink up the images and randomly stamp them on your white card base as shown. I added some punched out flowers or a butterfly (to coordinate with the stamped images) and then embellished with a few sequins from the kit.  That’s it!  These are quick and simple little cards you can put together in a snap! Be creative with it! Enjoy!
