2nd Annual OWH Event

One of my team members, Debbie Jorns, is co-hosting her 2nd Annual OWH event for our troops! I am so excited to be a part of this event again! We will be creating some special cards for the men and women in our military to send home to their loved ones! There are so many ways for you to get involved and give back to our Troops!

It is strongly suggested that everyone new to this concept check out the OWH website to get a sense of what we are doing and why we are doing it. Check it out http://operationwritehome.org/welcome/

There is a video for anyone new to OWH and there are guidelines for card making on the Home page of OWH. If you are able to participate in this event in person, you will not need an OWH stamp or envelopes. However, if you are unable to participate in person you can still get involved! Visit the OWH website for more information!

Last year we sent over 500 handmade cards to our military troops overseas and their families, raised over $200 for postage and everyone who participated had the honor of sending a personalized Any Hero card to a member of the military, expressing their gratitude for the service they provide for Our Freedom.

Hope you are able to attend this awesome event! Please RSVP to Debbie or Joan and let’s show our support for the men and women that serve our country! 🙂

Share the Joy ~ RMHC

Let’s share the joy this holiday season by giving back to others.  Stampin’ Up! is all about making a difference in the lives of others. As such, they have partnered with the Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) to bring comfort and creativity to the lives of Ronald McDonald House guests. Each year, thousands of families stay at more than 160 independently operated Ronald McDonald Houses in North America. These Houses serve as temporary homes for the families of seriously ill children who are being treated in nearby hospitals. Together, these two caring, helping organizations create a powerful environment in which House guests will be able to enjoy creative expression in the comfort of their “home-away-from-home.” For more information about the Ronald McDonald House Charities, visit their website at http://www.rmhc.org/season-of-giving

To support this wonderful charity, I will be donating 20% of the total of all Stampin’ Up! orders placed December 1, 2013 through December 21, 2013.  Want to be part of this special promotion? Simply place an order online, starting December 1, 2013, at www.lynndunn.stampinup.net…that’s all you have to do!  You will still be able to take advantage of all of the Stampin’ Up! Clearance Rack specials plus I will donate 20% of your order total to the RMHC!  Just think…you will have some awesome products to give as gifts (or keep for yourself) and in the process, you will be helping to support families in your community! Share the joy this holiday season and join me in supporting this wonderful cause!

Operation Write Home ~ Stampin’ for the Troops

Congratulations to Debbie Scharpf Jorns and the 25 ladies that participated in the “Operation Write Home” ~ Stamping for the Troops event yesterday!! This talented group of ladies helped stamp & assemble over 400 homemade cards to be sent to our U.S. soldiers and their families! They also raised $175 to help defray postage cost to send these cards to our troops everywhere! Amazing team work! Although I couldn’t stay for the event, thanks to a terrible cold, I am so proud of what this group accomplished!  I was able to donate over 100 handmade cards as well as 3 different card designs for the ladies to put together at the event.  Debbie and her team did such an amazing job putting this event together! Congratulations to all!

Operation Write Home

One of my team members, Debbie Jorns, is holding an awesome charitable event for our troops! I am so excited to be a part of this event! We will be creating some special cards for the men and women in our military to send home to their loved ones! There are so many ways for you to get involved and give back to our Troops!

There is a video for anyone new to OWH and there are guidelines (*) for card making on the Home page of OWH. If you are able to participate in this event in person, you will not need an OWH stamp or envelopes. However, if you are unable to participate in person you can still get involved! Visit the OWH website for more information!

The event will be held August 26th from 5:00pm – 8:30pm at Lisko’s Hall in Huilsburg, Wisconsin. Here are some suggestions for participating, in person, at the August 26th event:

1. Donate hand-made cards that follow OWH guidelines* These could be cards you made at events, stamp camps or parties that would work for OWH.

2. Make a kit for others to assemble 8-12, A2 size cards , following OWH guidelines* – cards should be ready to assemble with one or two completed samples (similar to the way a demonstrator prepares for a Stampin Up Party!). Most embossing or cutting should be done ahead.

3. Assemble cards from others’ kits

4. Write “Any Hero” notes or make Any Hero cards – guidelines for these are not as strict – emphasis is on writing a note of appreciation, support or recognition of service – (See OWH Guidelines* – these can be hand drawn, coloring pages done by children, store-bought cards or cards made by less experienced card makers).

5. Donate cardstock or small print pattern paper suitable for card making.

6. Donate money to send to OWH to defer postage costs – We will “pass the hat” at the event since postage is a huge expense for OWH to get the cards to the military units. You can receive a tax deductible receipt for a donation by check or online at www.operationwritehome.org

7. Bring a snack to share with fellow cardmakers! (There will be no calorie counting when you’re doing charity work!)

Hope you are able to attend this awesome event! Please RSVP to stamptasticdesigns@gmail.com and let’s show our support for the men and women that serve our country! 🙂
