Happy Birthday Gorgeous

Hello Stampin’ Friends! Today I want to share a fun fold card idea with you. It’s called an Easel card. Definitely an oldie but a goodie! I created this card for a demonstrator swap that I participated in. The card showcases products from the Foil Frenzy Suite and the Happy Birthday Gorgeous bundle. My inspiration for this card came right from the pictures in the annual catalog!

Easel cards are pretty simple to create. This fun fold is very similar to a z-fold card, the only difference is that you are adding an extra piece of cardstock which allows your card front to stand up like it’s on an easel.  The card easily folds down flat so it’s the perfect fun fold card for mailing.

To create this card start with a 4-1/4 x 11 inch piece of Soft Sky cardstock for the base of your card. On the 11 inch side, score the cardstock at 5-1/2 and at 8-1/4 inches. Cut another piece of Soft Sky cardstock at 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches as this will be your card front.  Here is a side view of how to fold the 4-1/4 x 11 inch scored piece of cardstock.

The 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of cardstock should be adhered to the bottom part of the fold on the card front. In this picture, it is the fold that is pointing downward towards the bottom of the card. To adhere the piece, lay the card flat and apply adhesive to the lower part of the card front, under the fold line. Then simply lay the 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece on top to secure it. It should look like the picture above when complete.

Once you have created the easel card, then decorate it any way you like! I used some of the fun products from the Foil Frenzy Suite. One little tip about the easel card is that you will need to adhere something to the inside, on the bottom, of the card in order for the easel card to stand up and stay open.  For this card, I simply cut a 4-1/4 x 1 inch piece of the polka dot foil paper and adhered it to a 4-1/4 x 1-1/4 inch piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  I took this piece and adhered to the inside of the card base, on the bottom, using a few dimensionals. When the card is opened in the easel position, it provides a “resting” area for the front of the card.
