Butterfly Basics

butterfly basicsGood Morning and Happy Monday!  Today I have a fun stamping and layering technique that gives your stamped images a 3-dimensional look.  And it’s super simple too! This particular card showcases one of the flowery images from the Butterfly Basics set but you can use this technique with just about any image.  So let’s take a closer look at how to make this card.

Start with a piece of whisper white cardstock for the base of your card. Stamp the large flowery image on the left hand side of the card front using crumb cake ink. Stamp the “netting” image with crumb cake ink as well. Stamp a little sentiment using soft suede (or any darker brown ink color). Sponge some soft sky ink around the flower and netting images that you stamped on the front of the card. Punch a heart shape out of a piece of the Typeset Designer Series Paper. Lay the heart on a scrap piece of paper and stamp the upper part of the flowery image onto the heart using crumb cake ink. Pick up the heart and line up the image on the heart with the one you stamped on your card; adhere the heart to your card with a few dimensionals to pop it up a bit. For the finishing touch, add a little bitty butterfly or other embellishment. Enjoy!
