Sheltering Tree is fast becoming one of my favorite stamp sets. The tree image in this set is simply stunning! The set is so versatile as you can make cards for any occasion, including more masculine style cards….like this one! Your color scheme is really important too when making masculine style cards. This particular color combo showcases only two colors: old olive and early espresso. You can choose to stamp on either a white or cream colored cardstock.
To make this card, start with a piece of old olive cardstock for the base of your card. Cut a 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of early espresso cardstock and emboss it with the wood grain embossing folder. Secure that piece to the card front with some type of adhesive (snail runners work great)! Cut a 4 x 4 inch piece of white or vanilla cardstock and stamp the fun images from the Sheltering Tree set on it. Once you have the images stamped, simply tear the top of the cardstock (above the tree). Be careful not to tear into your tree image. Sponge a bit of early espresso ink on the torn cardstock and around the edges. Secure this piece to the center of your card. Cut a 1 x 4 inch strip of old olive cardstock and stamp a sentiment on it. Secure this piece so that it overlaps the stamped images a bit. For the finishing touch, add a little button. Enjoy!
