It is just simply amazing what you can do with one sheet of paper! And this one sheet wonder idea was genius! Thanks so much to Bonnie Waterman for sharing such a wonderful idea with all of us! I loved it so much that I just had to create some of my own projects with this beautiful paper! Here’s how you do it…
Start with the full sheet of flowery paper from the Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. When I first saw this paper, I thought of a few home decor projects that I could put together with it. It really never crossed my mind to cut it up and make cards with it! But WOW, once you cut up the paper you will have some simple and stunning cards!
To get started, let’s take a look at the best way to cut the paper so you get the most out of the beautiful flowery pattern. I put together a little cheat sheet of measurements for you. This is a 12 x 12 inch piece of DSP. I started at the top of the paper and cut three 4 inch sections. Then I took each individual 4 inch section and cut 2 pieces at 5 1/4 inches…which left the 1 1/2 inch sections on the bottom of each piece.
Once I had all of the pieces cut, then the fun began! Now there are a variety of ways that you can use these pieces. I choose to make only 7 cards with all of the pieces of cardstock…but you could actually make 9 cards if you use each of the 1 1/2 x 4 inch pieces separately. The 4 x 5 1/4 inch pieces fit perfectly on a card…just choose a cardstock color that coordinates with your paper. In this case, I chose blackberry bliss as the base cardstock for all of my cards. Next, I decided to use one stamp set for all of the cards…of course, I chose the coordinating painted petals set. I stamped all of the sentiments using blackberry bliss ink. For those cards that had very busy flowery patterns, I simply punched out a little tag for the sentiment and then embellished it with a bit of ribbon. I also added some elegant butterflies which are my absolute favorite embellishment! The first 6 cards were the quickest to put together! The 7th card took me a little longer to design because I needed to come up with a focal point for the center of the card. I simply took the remaining 3 pieces of 1 1/2 inch x 4 inch DSP and secured them to the base of my card. I cut a 2 x 4 inch piece of white paper and made a scalloped tag. I decorated this tag with stamped images from the painted petals set! Simply gorgeous! Enjoy!
