Open Sea ~ Bleach Technique

Well I continue to play around with my new found bleach technique!  If you haven’t seen the technique in action yet, then I highly recommend that you check out my previous post this week at http://bit.ly/1kJkpFM (it will give you a little more details on bleaching).

I actually started out making this card for this month’s swap group; however, I changed my mind and kept this one for myself (sorry ladies). 🙂  To make this card, I started out with a piece of early espresso cardstock for the base of the card. Cut a 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper (the yellow pattern) for the background.

Cut a 3 3/4 x 3 inch piece of early espresso cardstock and heat emboss the ship log (the words) from the Open Sea stamp set using early espresso embossing powder. Using a Q-Tip, rub bleach across the embossed image several times until you achieve the desired discoloring. Let dry. Distress the edges of the paper with a distressing tool and by tearing it in random spots. Add a bit of burlap ribbon, some brads and a little sentiment. Oh…and don’t forget to stamp the compass and punch it out with the coordinating circle punch. Sooooo many possibilities with bleach! What do you think of the technique?
