This month I will share a variety of masculine themed cards. For some reason, it is a bit more challenging to come up with masculine style cards….probably because there are more feminine style stamp sets available than masculine.
To help me share some ideas with you…I joined a swap with 13 other ladies! Wahoo! And the theme is…yep, you guessed it… masculine cards! So let’s take a look at the first masculine style card I created to share with you.
To make this card, start with a piece of cajun craze cardstock for the base of your card. Cut a 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of soft suede cardstock and stamp it with the Hardwood image….use early espresso ink. Cut a 4 x 3 inch piece of very vanilla cardstock. Using early espresso ink, stamp the moose and “Thinking of You” images from the Walk in the Wild stamp set. Grab a few sponge daubers and the following ink colors: cajun craze, crushed curry, always artichoke and early espresso. Ink up one of the daubers in always artichoke…instead of “dabbing” on the ink, gently rub the ink on using a swirling motion. When you use this rubbing technique, the ink goes on smoother and gives a more subtle look to your project. I recommend practicing the technique on a scrap piece of paper first. Repeat the rubbing technique using a different dauber with each of the colors. For the finishing touches, using a distressing tool on the edges of this piece and add a bit of linen thread as shown. Stay tuned for more masculine card ideas this week!
