Envelope Punch Board ~ Birthday Card

Here is a creative way to use the new envelope punch board!  I learned this great tip from Kerry McDonough as she shared an adorable little birthday card she made!  If you haven’t seen the envelope punch board, you can check it out here!  You are able to make 66 different sized envelopes!  Or…in this case…you can make an envelope style card!

To make this card, start with an 8 x 8 inch piece of real red cardstock. Using the measurement on the envelope punch board, I scored the card at 3 1/2 inches all the way around to make a square (if you were making an envelope, you would score it differently… and the envelope punch board has instructions and measurements all laid out for you).  In any event…I didn’t follow the directions. 🙂  So…I just placed the edge of the cardstock on the envelope punch board at 3 1/2 inches and scored it…then I turned the cardstock and repeated the scoring process until all four sides were scored.  I cut a 4 x 4 inch piece of the birthday designer series paper for the inside of the card and a 1 x 12 inch piece to make a belly band for the outside of the card. Once you have your envelope card scored…fold it on all of the score lines and punch out those little notches (remember the envelope punch board has instructions).  🙂 Fold the card up so it looks like an envelope and wrap the belly band around the outside of it (the belly band in this pic has the balloons on it). Secure it with your tape…be sure to make it a little loose so you can slide it off and on the envelope.  Then just decorate the inside and outside of the card with your favorite birthday stamp images!  Super cute!
