Vintage Butterflies ~ CASED

This was one of my favorite vintage swaps, created by Buffy Allen, from the 2013 Stampin’ Up! convention! As many of you know, I am a huge vintage fan! I love the soft colors: crumb cake, baked brown sugar and pool party!

The flowery design in the middle of the card comes from the stippled blossoms stamp set.  This is one of those “overlay sets” meaning that you have one stamp for the “color” of the flower and another stamp for the “outline” of the flower.  For this particular card, I stamped the “color” of the flower in crumb cake (which is a lighter brown) and then stamped the “outline” of the flower over the top (using the baked brown sugar which is a bit darker brown).  To obtain the marbleized look, simply stamp the stippled blossom images in a random fashion all over the cardstock! For a little vintage effect, I sponged a bit of crumb cake over the images.

The butterflies come from the Papillion Potpourri stamp set. I stamped them in early espresso ink (dark brown) and then sponged a bit of pool party (light blue) ink over the top. And…of course there is a coordinating punch for these elegant butterflies so I didn’t have to cut them out by hand.  Once I had the butterflies cut out an adhered to the card, I simply added a bit of dazzing details to the wings to make them glitter. And did you notice the baked brown sugar ruffled trim?  Love that!
